UFV - RibeirãoAfter receiving its operating license, the Ribeirão Photovoltaic Plant, in Pernambuco, started supplying the interconnected system with enough power to benefit almost 4,000 homes. With a generation capacity of 2.5 MW, the undertaking is the result of an investment by OnSolar, a company of the OnCorp Group, which hired the OEC and Alubar Energia to carry out the assembly and commissioning of the project, installed on a 50 thousand square meter site in the municipality of Ribeirão, 90 kilometers from Recife. The value of the investment was more than R$ 11 million.

Work on the project began in October 2019 with the import of equipment and land preparation. Construction began in February 2020, just before the pandemic broke out, which caused the activities to be halted for a few months.

One of the differentials of the enterprise are the bifacial photovoltaic modules, which will provide greater efficiency in energy generation and less loss of capacity over time, besides having a longer warranty period from the supplier. The technology allows energy to be generated both with direct irradiation at the top of the plates and indirect irradiation through the ground surface at the bottom. Another innovative feature of the plant is the installed trackers, a system that will enable the tracking of the sun by the plates, bringing the best possible use in energy capture.

“We are using the most modern solutions for solar energy generation, such as the module fixing structures with a solar tracking system and bifacial modules with 430W power, in addition to high-power inverters with integrated string box (insulating protector in case of short-circuit) and Wi-Fi monitoring system,” says Fernando Chein, Energy Business Director at OEC.

According to João Mattos, director of OnCorp, this project demonstrates the OnCorp Group’s movement to seek solutions for energy generation from renewable sources, being the first of its kind in the company, establishing in the northeast region an investment that seeks to open a new niche and, at the same time, establish a presence in a region that has much to offer for the national energy matrix. “The OnCorp Group’s partnership with OEC and Alubar was born from joint relationships that sought to unite the expertise in project execution of OEC/Alubar with the excellence of the OnCorp Group in launching projects in the area of power generation, always with concepts of extreme efficiency, robustness, and reliability,” he says.
