After five intense years enhancing internal processes and reformulating Integrity policies and guidelines, Tenenge - OEC's industrial engineering branch - has achieved ISO 37001 certification, a global standard for anti-bribery systems management. One of the first heavy construction business groups in Brazil to receive the seal, the company was audited by QMS Certification Services. The certification is valid for three years and includes the subsidiaries OECI, CNO, CBPO, Oenger, and Odebrecht Engenharia e Construção.

The achievement of ISO 37001 attests to the recognition of the internal controls created in recent years and corroborates our determination to base our business on acting ethically with integrity and transparency, said Alexandre Baltar, OEC's Chief Compliance Officer, adding: "It is a defining moment for us, which brings us great satisfaction. But we don't forget that continuous enhancement is a premise of this work."

The company has been strengthening its Integrity and Governance System since 2016, with a series of measures and commitments:

  • incorporation of independent directors with a broad market track record;
  • installation of advisory committees in areas such as Integrity, Audit, and Finance;
  • implementation of the Ethics Committee;
  • institution of the offices of Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Internal Audit, who report directly and independently to the Board of Directors;
  • establishing broad measures for prevention, detection and remediation of any actions in disagreement with the company's new Integrity Policy;
  • creation and availability of an Ethics Line, managed confidentially by an independent company;
  • adoption of a single, centralized payment system at the parent company for all countries and contracts;
  • signing of the "Letter of Commitment of the Business Movement for Integrity and Transparency", an initiative of the Ethos Institute in partnership with the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and Transparency International.

The monitoring was part of the commitments in the leniency agreement signed by the group in December 2016. The independent monitor certified that the compliance systems of Tenenge and other OEC subsidiaries, including their policies and procedures, are designed and implemented to prevent and detect breaches of anti-corruption laws.
