The Vacation Internship Program of OEC, held in Brazil, started this year with a new air. After the campaign ran that positions OEC as a company that values differences and seeks young talents belonging to minority groups, the team selected from the 7,368 applications was mostly female.
With the goal of creating an increasingly diverse and inclusive environment, this year's program had a greater emphasis on identifying women, blacks, and low-income individuals. Of the 63 vacancies offered, 36 were filled by women and 29 by men. This is the first edition in which the women are the majority.
"Our premise is that a diverse and inclusive environment enhances creativity, cooperation, and the organizational climate, and consequently boosts the generation of results, including financial ones," explains Ludmila Lavigne, RAE Planning and People.
Consórcio Gás Sul and Copasa, for example, have hired groups formed only by women. "Some locations are difficult to access, which makes it a little more difficult to access diverse groups, but we did our best to always have a balance, and we are happy with the result," said Sabrina Veras, responsible for People - Brazil.
In 2021, OEC released its Diversity & Inclusion Policy, including some commitments, such as the adoption of inclusive processes of people attraction and identification, in which equity vision and actions are used for efficiency in attracting more and better diverse professionals.
