The year 2022 was an important milestone for strengthening and disseminating the area of Innovation at OEC. In July, the construction company launched its open innovation program, OEC IN, a novelty that was accompanied by the launch of the podcast Conexão OEC, an internal and external communication tool designed to bring the company closer to the innovation ecosystem and give vent to issues experienced in day-to-day construction work, in addition to encouraging a critical look at methods and processes that can be optimized.

In August, the Innovation area published the 1st edition of the Newsletter of the OEC IN Program, which is about to launch its 5th edition, and started publishing a series of technical articles in important vehicles of the specialized media, such as Agência Infra, Exame, and O Empreiteiro Magazine, among others.

Besides these achievements, during the year, the Innovation area made feasible internal training programs in BIM for 40 integrants, approaching the BIM workflow (3D Modeling - Coordination - Information Management) and geoprocessing for infrastructure works, besides having elaborated a project of organizational implementation of the tool aiming at preparing the company for the BIM Brazil strategy, which foresees the dissemination of the tool in federal works until 2028.

As a way to promote and disseminate open innovation in the contracts, the area started a program of visits to construction sites to learn about problems and assess opportunities with the line teams. In the last quarter of the year, OEC's innovation team visited five construction sites and this initiative brought about a great engagement of the field teams in the Innovation ecosystem, generating several connections with Inovabra hub startups (especially GoalPlan, headquartered in Stockholm, for team management), as well as the hiring of three startups (Construcode, Checklist Fácil, and Fast4Sign), a technology company (Greendocs), and the opportunity to carry out four PoCs (Proofs of Concept) at the construction sites.

For 2023, the area's goal will be to get closer and closer to the project teams, promoting the finding of solutions for the "pains" brought by our line teams. In addition, among other novelties, a project is underway and expected to be launched in 2023 to reuse the knowledge already produced by our operations by facilitating access to the technical collection, with the implementation of artificial intelligence.
