Fabio Januario_OECOn May 8, the Ethos Institute, FGVethics and IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, launched a joint action to promote the strengthening of the infrastructure sector in Brazil and the construction of the bases for its self-regulation. OEC participated in the event as one of the signatory companies of the initiative. At the launch, at least 18 companies had joined, but others are still joining the movement.

The three institutions understand that a collective action by the sector to address issues such as ethics, transparency and integrity is essential to achieve long-term sustainable development and ensure the competitiveness of the infrastructure market in the country. For the organizers, solving these challenges requires joint action and not just individual attitudes. The result of this process will be the implementation of self-regulation of infrastructure activities.

In the coming months there will be held meetings, discussions and workshops with the participation of engineering and construction companies, banks and financiers, insurance companies, class associations, multilateral agencies, among others.

The launch took place in the city of São Paulo, in an event that was attended by the Minister of Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) Wagner Rosário. "The government wants an ethical and sustainable relationship between the public and the private sectors. This self-regulatory initiative is a way to promote the integrity of the infrastructure sector," he said.
