The North American magazine Engineering News-Record (ENR) recognized the São Paulo subway Line 5 section 7 as one of the best projects of 2018.

The 2018 Global Best Projects Awards Award of Merit was presented during a ceremony that took place on the evening of October 2 in New York. On this occasion, Odebrecht Engineering & Construction was represented by Giorgio Bullaty and Fernando Ribeiro, responsible for leading the construction consortium, in partnership with OAS and Queiroz Galvão.

Global Best Projects is considered one of the most prominent awards in world engineering, annually recognizing major projects performed around the world. Other important constructions undertaken by major companies also received awards, such as CCCC from China, FCC Construcción from Spain, Saudi Aramco, Bechtel International, Fluor and KBR, among others. The main award of the night was won by the Italian company Salini Impregilo for its work on the Sydney subway. OEC was the only South American construction company present at the award ceremony.

During a brief speech, contract manager Giorgio Bullaty highlighted OEC’s entrepreneurial capacity throughout its 74-year history, having undertaken important projects in more than 30 countries during this time. “It is a great satisfaction to contribute to the economic and social development of the communities where we work, with projects that facilitate people’s lives,” he highlighted.
