At OEC, we believe that a plural and inclusive environment boosts creativity, engagement and, consequently, improves our results. To this end, the Inclusive Communication Guide this is yet another action taken by the People department as part of the Diversity & Inclusion strategy, which includes a policy, training and awareness-raising, recruitment and selection processes with affirmative vacancies, guidance on the existence of humanized construction sites, a mentoring program for women, affinity groups, among other initiatives.
The document contains some lessons learned, as well as reflections and practical tips so that communication can reach all of the OEC’s audiences in a more appropriate and respectful way. It deals with how to write, speak and express oneself with care, using words that show respect for everyone and avoid stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, exclusion or offenses against people or social groups, an essential process for life in society.
As Mauricio Cruz, CEO of OEC, says: “Respect should always be the guiding principle of our relationships and the way we communicate.”
Thus, the OEC’s Guide to Inclusive Communication is an invitation to evaluate practices and change attitudes and behaviors, in full alignment with the company’s culture and values.
Together, we will eliminate all forms of discrimination!
